ABC Anti-Bullying Committee Kicks-off campagin

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- Last week we met two groups working to combat bullying in Muskingum County. Today we met another organization hoping to make its mark and stop bullying.
ABC the Anti-Bullying Committee, held their first public kickoff event at the Fieldhouse. Board Member Brad Seward said the organization was formed when a group of people noticed a need to raise awareness for bullying and decided to do something about it.
“We want to offer resources to the schools. Work within the schools on enacting positive change on dealing with bullies,” said Brad Seward from the Anti-Bullying Committee. “We don’t want to become a bully the bully type of program. We want to use our staff and we have counselors on staff that one we can treat the kids that have become victims, but we also want to use that staff to treat the bully.”
Families were able to come out and learn more about bullying and resources available to them. They also heard speeches from members of the community and enjoyed various activities. The kids were able to take motorcycle rides with members from local bike communities, tackle the National Guard obstacle course, and learn about martial arts.
“ZPD’s brought their SRT vehicle. Sheriff Lutz is here. He’s also sending K-9 Panzer and his handler is going to be here. State Highway Patrol’s here. Various groups that have come here,” said Seward.
For now the board is focusing on Muskingum County, but hopes to eventually span into other surrounding counties. They hope to offer scholarships in the future and to work closely with schools to approach the issue.
