Alzheimer’s Association holds Walk To End Alzheimer’s

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Hundreds of people were at Ohio University Zanesville Saturday morning for the Walk To End Alzheimer’s.
The Alzheimer’s Association’s goal is to raise money to end Alzheimer’s and also support programs for people with Alzheimer’s. Alzheimer’s Association local Executive Director, Cheryl Kanetsky said the event has grown significantly throughout the years, and the community support is amazing.
“There are growing numbers of people who are living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia and people need help and resources and the Alzheimer’s Association provides that. Programs and resources free of charge right here in the community and the dollars raised here through our event allows that to happen,” said Kanetsky
Kanetsky said Alzheimer’s is an advancing disease that destroys brain cells and causes people to have increasing difficulty with memory. Kanetsky believes there was at least 500 people there to walk.
“It is a real tribute to the individuals who live in this community who care about this cause and want to see the end of Alzheimer’s. A portion of the money raised goes to fund research fighting this disease and looking for better treatments and one day a cure,” said Kanetsky.
The walk took place on the Ohio University Zanesville campus this morning, and Kanetsky thanks everyone that came out today and supported the Alzheimer’s Association.
