American Legion awards multiple scholarships

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The American Legion Post 29 held their annual scholarship reception Tuesday evening. 

American Legion presented 12 $1,000 scholarships and the Sons of American Legion awarded 6 $500 scholarships. Commander Larry Wheeler said he’s honored to be able to do this for the community. 

“It’s one of the pillars of the American Legion to help the community,” explained Wheeler. “Community, family, those kinds of things, those values run very deep in the American Legion and it’s just another way we support the community.”

The scholarships were open to American Legion family members.
