Animal Shelter Names Pet Of The Week, Reopens

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- The Animal Shelter Society in Zanesville is announcing its reopening as well as its pet of the week.
The pet of the week is Coco. Lisa Burkett tells us a little more about Coco.
“Coco is a three year old male pit-mix. He is very friendly with all of us here, he is gonna be animal selective. We had him running around with our shelter ambassador and he’s fine. He has a kennel mate that he plays with outside… We know he can sit and he can lay down. Coco, through no fault of his own, has been returned to us twice. Hopefully third time’s the charm and he finds his forever.”
The shelter as a whole is reopening after shutting down for the COVID pandemic. Board Secretary April Cohagen-Gibson explains the specifics of the reopening.
“The board of directors is very excited to announce that we’re gonna have what is commonly referred to now as a soft opening. Next Thursday we will be opening our doors on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from noon to four and we will have staff on both of our cat floors and on our dogs floors. I can’t tell you who’s more excited to see everyone: it’s with the staff, the board or the animals themselves.”
The soft opening will last for a month before reevaluation towards full time reopening.
