Animal Shelter Society Hosts Third Annual ‘Paws and Claws Summer Jam’
ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Saturday at the Muskingum County Fair Grounds the Animal Shelter Society hosted their annual ‘Paws and Claws Summer Jam.’ This is the organizations third year running the event and it has grown in size each year.
Dry skies and season-high temperatures helped contribute to a large turnout for their third annual event. The shelter’s executive director, Jody Murray, said that events like this are critical to keeping the shelter up and running.
“All the money raised today goes to support of the animal shelter here in Zanesville,†said Murray. “Weather is cooperating, lots of things going on, just a great day for the shelter.â€
Among the events at this year’s ‘Summer Jam’ included a concert from ‘HB7,’ food trucks, animals on site, and a dunk tank that featured WHIZ’s own meteorologist Phil Sakal.
“We have about 40 cooperate sponsors that have already stepped forward and put some money toward our expenses,†said Murray. Everything we make today is going back into the funds for the shelter and that allows us to keep low cost adoption, and keep our spay and neutering low cost.â€
