Apartment fire on Orchard Street

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Zanesville Fire Department is investigating an apartment fire that occurred Wednesday night.
Fire Chief Jeff Bell said they were dispatched to an apartment fire on Orchard Street. He said the fire was under control after about 10 minutes. The apartment was evacuated.
“We got the call about 7:51 p.m.,” said Chief Bell. “Talking to the residents, he said he and his wife were asleep at the time. They woke up and saw flames and immediately got out of the apartment.”
Chief Bell said there was damage to their apartment and a vacant room upstairs. ValueCare Ambulance, Washington Township Fire Department and Falls Township Fire Department assisted on scene. There were no injuries reported, but the Red Cross was called to offer assistance. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
