ZANESVILLE, Ohio – For this month’s ArtCoz Artist of the Month, we’re going to fly on over to Cole’s Aircraft Aviation Art. Ron Cole is the president of Cole’s Aircraft Aviation Art on Main Street, where he describes the type of art on display. Pieces can range from a compelling coffee table choice to admirations of aviation.

“Pretty much a little bit of everything. We have a table made out of a Zebra for those interested in the off-beat,” Cole said. “We have a Japanese Zero aircraft that was built for the Japanese navy in 1943 and saw combat in the South Pacific. Took us 17 years to get it here. It’s one of the last all-original Zero fighters. I tell people it’s the world’s first Honda Civic, which is very true, but that’s here on display. I got a special display this month for that. ”

You can also find Cole’s artwork during the First Friday Art Walk featuring local historic pieces. They feature local icons like the Masonic Temple, the Zanesville Federal Building & Post Office, and a piece called Santa’s Y-Bridge Incident. Cole shares what he is looking forward to most about the upcoming art walk.

“It’s the one time where everyone reliably comes out and fills the streets and sidewalks are full and the motorcycles are going up and down and everybody participates. So it’s very special in that regard,” Cole said. “And if there’s one thing I’d like to add, it’s, hey, if you’re coming down to the artwalk, that’s half of it. Buy a little something. It doesn’t have to be much but buy a little something from a local artist to show your support and give them a boost.”

The First Friday Artwalk is this Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. in downtown Zanesville. You can learn more about ArtCoZ by visiting their website. You can also visit RonCole.net to buy artwork and learn more.
