ArtCOZ organizing virtual tribute for late artist and activist

Regula Warren 2

ZANESVILLE -Linda Regula – Warren passed away earlier this year. She was a Zanesville resident for nearly twenty years and co-founded the anti-bullying organization “You Will Rise”. ArtCOZ is partnering with You Will Rise to pay homage to Regula – Warren.

“On October 17th, we are going to be celebrating her and raising money for a scholarship. It’s going to be a virtual event held from 1 PM to 5 PM and we are asking people to donate artwork inspired by Linda and also do recordings of them talking about their memories of Linda and you can even do readings and passages from your favorite quotes in the Linda Regula books,” ArtCOZ President Kristen Brown said.

The tribute will be done entirely virtually because of Covid-19 and will mostly feature pre-recorded segments. Brown feels this is the best way to keep Regula – Warren’s fire burning.

“I think from this tribute you’re going to see how much she impacted Zanesville. She not only started the Y Bridge Art Festival, but she also inspired so many different artists including myself so there’s going to be an out pour of people with emotions coming out and telling stories about her and how they could reach out to her in the darkest hour and she would inspire them and she’s still doing that today and that’s why we want to carry on her legacy,” Brown said.

The presentation will be found on You Will Rise’s website October 17th from 1 to 5 PM. Viewers will also have the chance to raise money for the scholarship.
