Bee-autiful Cakes Up for Auction

The Carr Center’s Bee-loved cake auction is just one day away.
Secrest Auditorium was buzzing with activity as cakes of all shapes, sizes and designs were checked in along with the incentive items that go with them.
This year’s theme is “Our Bee-Loved” community and people took the theme to heart with cakes featuring bee hives, bees and other designs to put some spring in your step. The auction hopes to raise $125,000 this years.
“The reason that we’re able to serve the clients that we do is because of events like this. The fundraisers help us to serve the client and last year we served over 800 clients at the Carr Center and we want to beat that goal this year,” said Executive Director Becky Clawson.
Some of the programs offered by the center include Safety Town, Special Riders, Adult Day Care and Speech Therapy. All the bee-autiful cakes and incentives they need the community to place bids either on-line, by text or by calling their famous 453-2-5-2-5 number. You can also enjoy the cake auction in person at Secrest Auditorium.
“You can sit in the auditorium watch the auction go live. The cakes will projected on the screen as they’re being auctioned off and you can place bids right from the audience, enjoy a slice of cake, come in and participate in the cake auction,” explained Clawson.
Some of this year’s featured cakes will be on display in the lobby. If you would like to check out all the cakes and incentives you can visit our website later tonight. You can also listen to the auction Wednesday and Thursday from on 9am-5pm on WHIZ AM 1240, 102.3FM and right here on our website.
