Benny the Bass Predicts an Early Spring at Buckeye Lake

BUCKEYE LAKE, OH – The Buckeye Lake Region Chamber of Commerce Winterfest has returned.

Winterfest started bright and early this morning with Benny the Bass making his annual spring prediction. Benny was put in a tank with a minnow which he ate, meaning we will have an early spring.

“Today is about the community. It’s where everyone comes and celebrates Winterfest. Benny the Bass starts it off this morning if he eats the minnow, it’s like Punxsutawney Phil. He did eat it this morning so we’re going to have an early spring.” Jeff Hamilton, Commodore of Buckeye Lake Yacht Club stated.

Winterfest is Buckeye Lakes biggest party that people from all over the Buckeye Lake region have been waiting for. The weekend consists of activities, live music, fireworks, and fun for the Central Ohio region. Tomorrow at 1 o’clock, there will be a Polar Plunge outside the Buckeye Lake Winery, many will be jumping into the icy waters of Buckeye Lake to support a nonprofit organization.

“I love coming out and seeing everybody from around Licking County even people from the Columbus area that you know and just having a good time.” Winterfest Attendee, Peggy Wright said.

The Winterfest celebration will continue tomorrow with more fun.
