Blue Devils and Colts to meet on the hardwood for third time

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The old sports cliche goes that it’s hard to beat the same team three times in one year. However, that’s exactly what Zanesville will have to do if they want to win the district title and make it to regionals.

The Blue Devils will meet Meadowbrook in the district championship game Saturday. They played twice in the regular season with Zanesville wining both matchups en route to an ECOL title. However, the Blue Devils won both games by just two points each.

The Blue Devils are hoping to sweep the season series against the Colts and win the district title for the first time since 2011.

“I feel like we’re prepared for the third time that we play them. I feel like we executed good the first two times. We’re even more prepared for this one because of the big stakes ahead of us,” said junior Cobe Curry.

The match up will feature two of the best players in the area – Zanesville’s Cameron Brooks-Harris and Meadowbrook’s Trey Singleton. Both of them were co-East District players of the year.

Curry knows that trying to slow down Singleton will be their best chance to win.

“They really move the ball well. Trey is a tough guy to stop. He dropped 31 on us the second time. We’ll game plan around him,” said Curry.

The game tips from Muskingum University at 7 p.m. It will be broadcasted live on AM 1240 Radio.
