Bobcats break Akron’s 12-game winning streak

ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio Bobcats (14-7) led by five points at halftime and rolled to an 85-70 win over Akron (19-4) at the Convocation Center to break the Zip’s 12 game-winning streak.
The Bobcats were paced by redshirt junior Jaaron Simmons, who scored a career high 38 points in addition to grabbing ten rebounds. The win raises Ohio’s home record to 10-2. For Akron the loss was their first MAC defeat of the year, and their first loss since Dec. 10.
Ohio next plays Tuesday against Central Michigan at 7 p.m. at the Convo Center.
