Brown’s overtime goal sends Zanesville boys to district championship

ST. CLAIRSVILLE, Ohio – The Zanesville boys soccer team is heading to the district championship game to play a familiar foe.

At the end of regulation the eighth seeded Blue Devils and second seeded Big Red of Steubenville were tied at one in the district semi finals. Five minutes into overtime Ben Brown scored from 38 yards out for Zanesville to give them the win and to advance to the district championship game.

ZHS will face off against River View, who ended Morgan’s season with a 3-1 win at Maysville. The match will be Saturday at a location to be named. River View and Zanesville played in the second game of the regular season. The Black Bears won 2-0 at Sulsberger Stadium.
