Cambridge Chocolate Company Competes For Best Buckeyes

CAMBRIDGE, Ohio –When you hear the term buckeyes, most people probably think about Ohio State. However, at Nothing but Chocolate in Cambridge, It is their specialty.

The Nothing but Chocolate’s buckeyes have been nominated for the best buckeyes in Ohio for the 2019 10Best Readers’ Choice Travel Awards. A chocolate buckeye is a ball made of peanut butter, powdered sugar, and butter, mixed together and then dipped in chocolate. Nothing but Chocolate Owner and Chief Chocolatier, Amanda Cox said making these delicious buckeyes can take hours at a time.

“It can be quite a long process, especially depending on your quantity, but I would say several hours. You have to make the filling, cool it, then roll it, and then cool the balls again and then dip.”

At the moment, Nothing but Chocolate is currently in third place, out of twenty in the competition with twenty-five days to go. Cox said winning this wouldn’t just help out the candy store, it would also help Cambridge in general. Cox said she is extremely thankful for the help from local schools.

“It’s really an honor because we’re so small, we are in Cambridge, Ohio and they picked us. Another thing, I’m really wanting us to win this because our students who come and scoop and roll buckeyes for us, they do such a great job. We have students from the Muskingum Valley ESC MD program that is located at John Glenn, actually they’re here right now. “
