Child Support Awareness

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Muskingum County Commissioners have proclaimed August as Child Support Awareness Month.

Muskingum County Child Support Enforcement Supervisor Lindsay Hendricks met with the county commissioners to announce that two local children had their artwork chosen to be included in the 2027 Ohio Department of Jobs & Family Services, ‘My Sticker Calendar.’

“Every year, the state holds a coloring contest during the month of August, which is Child Support Awareness Month,” Hendricks said. “Child support is more than just money. It’s more about, you know, providing stability, ensuring that families have what they need to provide clothing, medicines, school supplies, everything that is necessary to you know let a child thrive.” 

The 2027 calendar marks the first time a Muskingum County submission has been chosen and Maysville 11th Grader Adalynn Miller along with Duncan Falls Elementary 2nd Grader Camry Theisen shared their excitement about having their artwork chosen.

“I just remember my mom like telling me that there was like an art competition or something at her work. So she said you should do it. And I said okay, why not?” Miller said. “My mom came home one day and she said that… Camry, there’s a coloring contest going on and you could get picked for the coloring contest and I started drawing… the Earth, a whale and a sunflower,” Theisen said.

The contest for the 2028 calendar is currently open for the children of the child support clients and employees throughout the month of August. The Muskingum County office will choose the top three drawings that will be submitted to the state, where the top 12 statewide submissions will be selected for the 2028 calendar.
