Christ Table Open On Holiday

ZANESVILLE, Ohio-The Christ Table community kitchen was open today to feed those in need.
The center said that the day is not too unlike any other day. Local Pastor John Cottrell was a volunteer today and had more to say.
“First of all, hunger don’t know anything about holidays, folks are still hungry. They’re open every holiday, so they can come in and serve the meals. Right now they’re averaging about 170 to 190 homebound deliveries, and around 300 meals that we take out the back door everyday. Not too long ago it was about 600 that we took out the back door. So folks that are hungry and hurtin’ we want to be here for them.”
Even though the total amount of metals is down Christ Table still has a desperate need for certain supplies.
“Right now we’re running short on bottled water. We had several skids that we had donated, folks donating, and then boom we just went through them so quick with all the heat, so right now we are sitting at zero. We have had to tell folks we can’t give you a bottle of water today because we are out, so if folks want to we will have a skid sitting out back so if they want to they can come in and just drop cases of bottled water off and we would really appreciate that.”
Cottrell says that volunteering at Christ Table is a great way to give back to the community at large.
