Christ’s Table Holiday Schedule

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The holidays usher in a change of schedule to accommodate family gatherings to celebrate the season and with Christmas falling on a Sunday, some schedules may not be affected.
Christ’s Table Executive Director Keely Warden explained how her staff decided to be open on Christmas Sunday to serve the less fortunate.
“Well Normally, we’re not open on Sundays,” Warden said. “That is the Sabbath and we’re normally closed but went to the staff and talked it over and it was consensus, it’s a holiday, we need to be here for the people we serve. Sometimes we’re the only family they have and everybody needs a smiling face and a hug on Christmas day.”
Warden expressed gratitude for the volunteers and staff, who could have taken the holiday for themselves but chose to spend it serving others and noted that generosity runs abundantly around Thanksgiving and Christmas but January and February are the leanest time of the year for donations and volunteers.
“A lot of people maybe think Christ’s Table is just for the homeless and that we are not, we serve everybody,” Warden said. “So if you’re out there on Christmas day and you don’t have anybody to share a meal with or you don’t have a meal, this is the place for you to be. We’ll be open from 11 to 1 and we encourage the community to come in and we want to thank everybody for that.”
Christ’s Table, located at 28 S. Sixth Street, will also be serving their big Christmas meal on Friday afternoon and will be open during normal hours Christmas Eve day.
