Christ’s Table’s collection numbers down

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Heavy rain at this year’s Muskingum County Fair not only hurt fair attendance but also the amount of canned food that Christ’s Table was able to raise.
Keely Warden, the executive director for Christ’s Table said this year they were able to collect 3,700 cans. That number is down about 25% from last year’s total.
“You always want to be beat your year prior. But we looked at the radar and we knew what was going to happen and we did plan for it to be down and for it to be wet,†said Warden. “We’re just thankful to get what we had. It takes about 100 cans for every meal we provide here at Christ’s Table.â€
This is Christ’s Table’s third year collecting cans at the fair and Warden said last year they collected 5,100 cans. The food collected will last them until Thanksgiving. This year she is thankful for what they were able to raise and everyone that donated.
“The rain did hold off for us for a little bit but as we were loading the trucks to come home it really started to pour. The Lord blessed us for a bit. It really wasn’t that bad,†said Warden.
Warden said anyone who wants to donate but could not make it to the fair, can drop off canned goods at their building on Sixth Street.
