City Council looks to improve downtown

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- City Council has approved an ordinance that could allow existing and new restaurants in downtown to sell alcohol.
The ordinance was originally recommended by Zanesville Mayor Jeff Tilton. Mayor Tilton said two citizens recommended the increase in the number of liquor licenses for current and future restaurants as part of the revitalization of downtown.
“Any development downtown, which brings people downtown, will help this community. By bringing restaurants downtown and life after 5:00 P.M. You look at the Dutro project and what they’ve done to the downtown (area) bringing more things to our downtown area. Not only just restaurants, but people downtown. We have people living downtown, it’s always good for the revitalization downtown to have people there,” said Mayor Tilton.
Mayor Tilton said the improvements downtown are helping the community and makes the City of Zanesville better.
