Community Members Celebrate Dresden Legacy Day

ZANESVILLE, Ohio — The Dresden Community Association held their Third Annual “Legacy Day” this afternoon.
The bicentennial celebration hosted at the Old Union School included wagon rides, historic venue tours, food, fresh kettle corn, and educational classes on a variety of topics.
“The Legacy Day began three years ago– this is our third annual– and it was started by Steve Wilson, who was our former president. He’s no longer in the state but we’re continuing the Legacy Day event and it keeps growing every year and it’s been fun and educational,” said Tina Miller, Treasurer for the Dresden Community Association.
Among the topics discussed were historical tales of Dresden and prehistoric native american storytelling.
“Jeff Garver has lived in Dresden all of his life, he was our former police chief. He is portraying James Lacy who was a police chief and fire chief back in the 60’s. He’s got tons of pictures, and he’s got all this history and stories. Dr. Robert Curry, he is very knowledgeable about the Indian history. He has a room filled with artifacts,” added Miller.
The Dresden Community Association expected approximately 300-500 locals to attend the celebration.
