Community members lace up for 9th annual Race for Grace

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- Members of the community big and small started their Thanksgiving Day with a race in Downtown, Zanesville.
The light rain and wind chill did not stop these runners. This is the 9th annual “Race for Grace 5K run, hosted by Grace United Methodist Church. Race director, Becky woods said there were 151 runners in this year’s race. Woods said this year they’ve introduced a new app to the race.
“There’s an app for everything,” Woods said. “It’s called webscore.com. You actually just enter your racers and you tap them as they cross the finish line. So we’re hoping to eliminate some of our paperwork.”
Not only were the runners up and at ’em early this morning, they were cheered on by several spectators too.
“All the proceeds go to Eastside (Community) Ministries for their food bank. We decided to do it to help the community out. We do a food drive in the beginning of the year and this sort of ties in with that,” Woods said.
Woods said the most rewarding thing about hosting the race is being able to give back to the community.
