Community Participates in Recycling Awareness Day

Recycling Day

Recycling is a vital aspect of environmental preservation, and it can be easily put into practice at home.

Area residents are being encouraged to visit the Muskingum County Recycling Center today to participate in Recycling Awareness Day.

Mark Schneider, Supervisor of the Recycling Center, says public education is the main goal of the event.

“We’ve been planning a day like this for a while now; and I wanted to wait until the weather broke a little bit, so it wouldn’t be so hot for people. And we’re trying to get people educated on what we take and what we don’t take; like bags and whatnot are something we don’t take anymore. And different forms of plastic that we can’t use anymore.”

Recycling is one of many ways that the public can help to reduce waste and save valuable resources in the community.

“When you recycle, you’re saving–like I said–from having to dig up the new stuff to make it. It just saves on water and all kinds of resources.”

Recyclable items can be washed and taken to the Muskingum County Recycling Cener, located at 2215 Adamsville Road in Zanesville. Acceptable items include water bottles, milk jugs, laundry soap jugs, cardboard, paper, and glass bottles.
