COVID Vaccination Update

ZANESVILLE, Ohio-Genesis Health System and the Muskingum County Health Department met today to discuss the ongoing first wave of COVID-19 vaccinations. 

The first half of the first wave is coming to an end in Muskingum County. The first wave included healthcare workers and residents of nursing homes.

For a brand new logistical process, with a brand new vaccine, with thousands of potential patients getting the vaccine, I think that it is rolling out extremely well, and it’s only going to get better as we refine the process.”, Health department medical director Jack Butterfield said at a press conference.

Public safety officers such as firefighters and law enforcement officers are eligible to receive the vaccine under certain circumstances. 

“Any firefighter who has, as part of his job, EMS services, even if it’s a minor part of his job, qualifies under phase 1a. If he is a firefighter that does not do any emergency medical service, he’s not in phase 1B according to the governor, right now.”, Butterfield continued.

The vaccines are being administered as quickly as they are received by the health entities.
