OLD WASHINGTON, Ohio – Saturday at the Guernsey County Fairgrounds was day two of three for the Paul Bunyan Show.
The show is one of the biggest shows east of the Mississippi River for the logging and sawmill industry. Brad Perkins, the Executive Director for the Ohio Forestry Association, said they have something for everyone at the Paul Bunyan Show.
“One of the major things we’ve got going on is an international lumberjack competition with some of people from all over the world. Some people may of heard of the Stihl Timbersports Series, and those guys are here today running hot saws, Jack and Jill Saw, ax throwing, chopping. That kind of stuff,†said Perkins.
This is the 60th Paul Bunyan Show and the 11th year it has been in Guernsey County. Along with woodcutting and carving, Perkins said seeing the giant equipment in action is always a fan favorite.
“When I come here and I see a lot of people looking at all this big equipment that these guys use,†said Perkins. “People don’t get to see that everyday. They can go down there and watch a chipper take a full sized tree and chip it up in a matter of seconds. Not minutes or hours,’ said Perkins.
Tomorrow is the last day for the Paul Bunyan Show. Gates open at 9 a.m. and it goes on till 3 p.m.
