Demolition for Old Westview Elementary to begin Wednesday

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- Demolition for the building formally known as Westview Elementary has been delayed for Wednesday.
The building has been unoccupied since 2010. We spoke to former principal Steven Foreman about saying farewell to this building.
“While it’s sad it’s also symbolic of our city the fact that we’re moving on,” Foreman said. “We’ve started a new chapter. We had a lot of issues with this site, but that is only because of the growth of our district and of this building.”
“All of our buildings in Zanesville city district now are fairly new. That’s a wonderful thing, having been a person who worked for the school district for 17 years to see,” Foreman said.
For those of you who are wanting a piece of the building for your memories, construction workers will have bricks available for those who want them.
“The bricks will be available as long as the bricks last. We’ve asked them to put as many as they can that are in very good condition in a pile. We’re very pleased to do that for those people that hold memories of Westview,” Foreman said.
Foreman said he’s sad to see the building go, but he’s glad to see the school district progress.
