Details on OVI checkpoint in Crooksville

The Lancaster Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol has released details on their OVI checkpoint in Crooksville on Friday Aug. 12.

Statistics show the between 9 p.m. and 11 p.m. a total of 119 vehicles were checked. Of that total five were diverted for further investigation. Four drivers were checked for license statues and one driver was arrested for operating a vehicle while impaired.

“We are making a difference through our partnership and common mission to make Ohio a safer place,” said Lancaster Post Commander Shad Caplinger. “We are all here to promote safety and make responsible decisions.”

Each driver was given safety materials that were provided by the Perry County Sheriff’s Office and Perry County Safe Communities.

The checkpoint occurred on State Route 93 south of Crooksville.

Lt. Caplinger thanked the Sheriff’s Office, Ohio Department of Transportation, Perry County Safe Communities, the Crooksville Police Department, Mothers Against Drunk Drivers, Perry Count Court, and Perry Count Prosecutor’s Office for their assistance.
