Dollar General Donates to Perry Elementary School

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – In the spirit of the holidays coming up the Zanesville Dollar General Distribution Center had a special surprise for the teachers and students of Perry Elementary School.
Principal Leigh Ann Atkins received a phone call from the Dollar General Corporate Office and was told they would like to donate some money to Perry Elementary School. Sandy Byers, Human Resources Manager at the Zanesville Dollar General Distribution Center, presented a check for $10,000 as a part of their “Thanks Giving” Campaign on Friday, November 9th.
“What we do in our local communities is we provide a donation on behalf of Dollar General for the Literacy Foundation and so that schools can purchase books and materials to support literacy,” Byers said.
She said Dollar General’s mission is to serve others. Principal Atkins said they will use the money to expand the number of books they have throughout the school.
“Our students are such wonderful readers that we need to grow our numbers of titles so that we can meet those readers who are just learning to read and growing so that we have books to challenge them,” Atkins said.
She said just a great heartfelt to Dollar General for their donation. If you would like to learn more about the “Thanks Giving” Campaign and the Literacy Foundation you can visit their website.
