Elf Promotes Holiday Fire Safety

A Christmas elf is using his holiday magic to help to promote fire safety during the holidays.
The Ohio Association of Professional Fire Fighters is using the elf on the shelf, from the popular children’s book to spread their holiday message throughout this month.
The elf named Ash is traveling around to firehouses affiliated with the union to remind everyone about being safe during activities such as displaying holiday lights, burning candles and using fireplaces.
He even made a stop in Coshocton where he posed with a plush firehouse dog and got to sit atop a fire truck.
Ash says when using Christmas lights you should follow these safety tips:
-Don’t use frayed cords
-Follow safety guidelines on lights
-Don’t overload circuits with too many lights or appliances
-Use a sturdy ladder to hang lights overhead
