ZANESVILLE, Ohio– An official from the Muskingum County Emergency Management Agency addressed county commissioners Thursday.

EMA, Director Bo Keck talked about the expiration of the tornado siren service contract.

“I’m here to see if the commissioners wish to go out and get quotes for the service for the sirens,” Keck said. “And also to follow the state guideline to get partial reimbursement for this service contract.”

There are 44 sirens throughout Muskingum County. In the event of a tornado the EMA can trigger all 44 of the sirens at once to warn the public.

“We have strategically placed sirens trying to cover the populated area where people would be outside. If we could save the community some money and also get the reimbursement that’s real important to the county,” Keck said.

Keck said the next step is to start receiving quotes for the service of the sirens. If you are interested in giving a quote, contact the EMA office at (740) 453-1655.
