EMA Reflects On 2020

MUSKINGUM COUNTY, Ohio-The Muskingum County EMA had its hands more than full in 2020.

The COVID-19 pandemic took away resources and time from the EMA. Director Jeff Jadwin tells us more about the response they had.

“That became daily meetings for a while, seven days a week. We finally got it back to where we’re only meeting, commands only meeting two days a week. We’re dealing everyday with distributing or getting in PPP so we can make sure our first responders and nursing homes have what they need. That’s keeping Travis and I both busy.”, Jadwin said of his role in the pandemic.

Aside from COVID the EMA had to deal with natural and manmade emergencies. Jadwin says that, while stressful, the emergencies weren’t so different from any other year.

“We had some flooding back in March and May. June we had some severe storms that we dealt with. Power outages throughout the year. Christmas Day we had a major power outage that affected about a third of the county, so that kept me busy Christmas Day. We had a nursing home have a generator blow up, so that created another problem.”, Jadwin continued.

The EMA is hoping for a less stressful 2021.
