Fairground gets ready for Rib Fest

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – This weekend kicks off the 13th annual Rib Fest in Zanesville.
17 vendors from as far away as Texas will be at the Muskingum County Fairgrounds for this year’s Rib Fest. Ernest Bynum is the director of the Minority Business Resource Network of Southeastern Ohio, the group that puts on the Rib Fest each year. He said it is hard to pick a favorite stand each year.
“My favorite part I guess would be getting samples of the ribs. Everybody asks me ‘what’s the best, what’s the best?’ And I can’t just pick one,†said Bynum.
In addition to ribs there will be live music from Alter Ego, Inner City Blue Band, Hot Boyz, New Legga, and C Show Band. A grand champions and a people’s choice will be selected on Saturday. Bynum said it’s always one of the biggest events in town.
“We started it downtown and now we are at the fairgrounds,†said Bynum. “The fairground seems to be a better place. There seems to be more open space than there is downtown. It’s probably, if not the biggest event in the City of Zanesville, it’s pretty daggone close.â€
The Rib Fest is this Friday and Saturday from 5 p.m. till midnight and admission is free.
