“Fitness in Five Minutes” Class Held at the John McIntire Library

MUSKINGUM COUNTY, Ohio- The John McIntire Library is helping residents get started with their New Year fitness journey by providing a “Fitness in Five Minutes” class.
The fitness class is an hour-long program that will be held by Kathy Normansell, professor and the Sport and Lifestyle Studies Program Coordinator at Ohio University Zanesville.
The class will show how to stay active throughout the day so that volunteers can meet their New Year fitness goals.
“We understand that at the start of the New Year people are always setting goals for themselves. Whether there are health goals, fitness goals, self defense goals in this world. We’re just trying to connect those people with the resources they need to fulfill those goals and live better lives,” stated Suzanne Helms, the Adult Services Manager at the John McIntire Library.
Helms said residents can still attend the class even if fitness wasn’t a goal they set for the New Year. She added that it’s an opportunity for someone to get out of the house and socialize with others.
“We’re not going to get crazy. There’ll be some things that you can do in your chair simply by standing up, stretching in the office, just ways to get your blood flowing and staying on top of your fitness,” Helms said.
The class will be held this Thursday from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the library located in meeting room B.
There will also be a Women’s Self Defense class this Saturday starting at 11 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., which is held by Jason Cable from Gracie Allegiance. It is highly recommended to wear comfortable and active clothes to both classes. To register for both classes, please visit the MCLS website at muskingumlibrary.org on the events calendar.
