ZANESVILLE, Oh – Meet this week’s Animal Shelter Society Pets of the Week.

There’s not one. Not two. But five sweet, almost 3-month old Australian Red Heeler Cattle Dogs up for adoption!

Flint, the sole boy of the group and his 4 sisters: Sweetie, Sophie, Stella, and Skye are very active and will definitely need some sort of job to do to satisfy their herding instincts!

Shelter Executive Director April Cohagen-Gibson says the puppies would get along with any aged kids and family, as well as other pets, but says to be prepared to do some extensive training with them!

“They’re puppies. Even though they don’t seem puppies, because they’re bigger, just three months old, they have a lot of education that they still need. You know, leash training and potty breaking and all that type of stuff,” she explained.

The shelter also hosted their Dog Days of Summer event this past weekend to benefit the shelter’s dogs like Flint and his sisters!

Cohagen-Gibson says the event was a great success despite some inclement weather at times.

“We want to thank everybody for The Dog Days of Summer. What a great event, even with a little bit of rain that came down, we still had a lot of supporters. Thank you to the vendors. Thank you to Poppys for the food truck, delicious food. Also a big shout-out to Rocker McMillen with McMillen Tire Service for what he did for  us last week. That was a great event.” she said.

The shelter is now looking ahead to their upcoming Barktober Fest which will feature food, fun, and even beer from Y-Bridge Brewing. Cohagen-Gibson says to mark your calendars for October 12th! More information will be available soon!

If you’re interested in adopting Flint or his sisters, you can apply online or stop by the shelter!
