Foodworks Alliance Comes to Rotary

ZANESVILLE, Ohio-Carol Humphreys of the Foodworks Alliance came to the noon Zanesville Rotary meeting this afternoon to talk about her mission.
Humphreys is the director of the alliance and works with several local entities. They work on developing restaurant businesses and helping charitable causes.
“One of the things that we do, we actually process food that comes in for the food pantries. So instead of tomatoes we make tomato sauce so that they can go on a meal, or we make jams and jellies or desserts and this is a way for us to actually prevent loss of food because sometimes there’s items that would go to waste if we didn’t do something with them.”, Humphreys told WHIZ.
Humphreys hopes to inspire Roatarians to spread the word of her business and donate if at all possible. Community support is a staple in small businesses throughout the area.
“One of the things is knowledge, first of all. They probably participate in the United Way, who supports that project. As well as I’ll talk about the Sweet Life bakery, where of course we’re serving women in recovery. I just want to make sure they know about the Sweet Life bakery and maybe purchase some products. It’s really about who we are and what we’re doing.”, Humphreys explained.
