FOP Hosts Senior Christmas Dinner

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Hundreds of senior citizens from across
Muskingum County gathered for a meal at Secrest Auditorium in the
spirit of the season as the Fraternal Order of Police hosted a
Christmas Dinner. The FOP distributed 500 tickets to the Senior
Christmas Dinner throughout the community in an effort to give back
to the senior population in the area. Patrolman Briar West says the
FOP looks forward to giving back each year.
“We just like to
give back any way we can. During the holiday season, we do a lot of
different things this being by far our biggest. It’s all
non-profit; we don’t make any money off of it—and it’s no cost
to the seniors. All they do is have to show up with a good appetite
and enjoy.”
The goal of the FOP
is to contribute is to contribute and give back to the community in
which they serve. Community projects are a vital aspect of the
organization.
“The FOP is not
just a whole bunch of cops sitting in a room, talking around a table.
We’re all—how can we give back to the community? The community
gives to us. We’re just as much for the people as we are for
ourselves. The Senior Dinner here is something that every member of
the FOP looks forward to every year.”
The Fraternal Order
of Police is a non-profit organization of law enforcement officers.
In addition to the Senior Christmas Dinner, the FOP also holds Shop
with a Cop to benefit area children during the holiday season.
