Former Maysville Panther wins national title

COLUMBUS, Ohio – A former Maysville Panther has won a national title at the college level.

Brooke Smith graduated from Maysville two years ago and now plays for Ashland University, who on Friday, won the NCAA DII Women’s National Title. The Eagles took down Virginia Union 93-77 at Ohio Dominican University to win their second national title in school history.

Smith, now a sophomore at Ashland, was a 1,000-pointer scorer in her time at Maysville and was three times named to the All-MVL team. In the national championship game she hit a fourth quarter three-pointer in her only field goal attempt of the game.
