Fred Taylor honored in hometown

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – One of Zanesville’s favorite sons was honored Saturday afternoon.

Fred Taylor was born in Zanesville in 1924 and attended Zanesville High School before going off the coach Ohio State to their only basketball national title in school history in 1960. A life-sized statue of the famous coach was unveiled in front of Zanesville Middle School on Blue Avenue.

Taylor coached the Buckeye hoops team 1959-1976 and led OSU to seven Big Ten Titles and 297 victories.
