Genesis to Postpone All Surgical Procedures That Can Be Safely Delayed

All Elective Surgeries Postponed, Critical Surgeries Continue
Following an order from the Ohio Department of Health, as of March 19, 2020, Genesis
HealthCare System, along with all other hospitals in Ohio, will postpone all surgical procedures
that can be safely delayed.
Genesis will continue to perform all essential surgical procedures that address saving a patient’s
life; preserving function of organ or limb; reducing metastasis or progression of a disease; or
reducing severe symptoms. Surgeons’ office staff will contact patients to reschedule procedures.
Postponing elective surgeries is in response to COVID-19. This postponement enables hospitals
to reduce risk to patients and providers, conserve critically short supplies of personal protection
equipment and preserve inpatient beds and equipment.
Patients Needing Medical Records
In-person medical records requests at the Grange Building and billing questions at the Genesis
Resource Center are temporarily suspended. If patients need copies of their medical records or
have questions related to their bill, the following options available: For any billing
questions/inquiries, call (740) 454-4335 or send an email to billingquestions@genesishcs.org
Patients can also use MyChart for their medical records. Patients who need their records to take
to another provider outside of Genesis should have their new provider call Health Information
Management at (740) 454-5905. Records will be sent directly to the provider.
Cleaning Procedures
All Genesis staff are taking an active role in wiping down surfaces frequently throughout
Genesis’ facilities. While Genesis has always had extensive cleaning procedures in place, staff
are performing those cleaning procedures more frequently.
