ZANESVILLE, Ohio-Ohio governor Mike DeWine visited Zanesville today to view a COVID vaccination site at the Maple Terrace High Rise apartment building.

While there DeWine met with the nurses and national guard soldiers who manned the station. He thanked them for their work and discussed ways to improve the statewide vaccination process. He sees the vaccine as a way to attack the virus instead of cowering away from it. He had words of advice for anyone still undecided about receiving the vaccination.

“I think the best thing to advise people to do is to talk to their doctor. Talk to their health provider, talk to people who have already got the vaccine. What’s happening is: we are now knowing more and more people who got the vaccine, and I think that’s how people really are influenced. They’re influenced by their own personal doctor, their own personal healthcare provider, their friend who got it, so I think that’s what I would advise people to do.”, DeWine told a crowd of reporters and healthcare workers.

DeWine’s visit was part of a planned trip around Ohio to see how different communities are handling their vaccine rollout. So far DeWine has visited urban areas so far to see how they’ve progressed. He is starting to see more rural areas such as Muskingum County to see how vaccine rollout can be improved in less populated areas.

“It’s out in the communities where we’re winning, and where we’re not winning. I was looking at the numbers today and we’ve got some counties where the numbers aren’t nearly what yours is. Getting out and getting to talk to people and hear what they have to say and hear what their concerns are, it helps me better do my job. I’ve always found that.” , DeWine explained.

DeWine praised Muskingum county for having the eighth highest per capita vaccination rate in the state. He’s proud of the strides Ohio has made since lockdowns first began in March of 2020.
