Habitat For Humanity To Open ReStore In Zanesville

For the first time ever, Habitat For Humanity will be opening a ReStore in Zanesville.

The store will be located at the former IGA at Sunrise Center Drive. There are over 800 stores across the country and each is operated by Habitat For Humanity affiliates. We spoke to Habitat Executive Director for Southeast Ohio, Kenneth Oehlers who told us how it works.

“It sells re-usable building materials to the public. It’s open to the public and it has three purposes. First of all to provide low cost building materials to the public. Secondly to keep reusable materials from going into the landfill–construction materials and such. The other third point and the purpose of the store is to provide funds for Habitat For Humanity.”

According to Oehlers, opening the store in Zanesville shows commitment to the community. Donations will be accepted at the beginning of April. Oehlers says they are looking forward to the future.

“We’re just really excited to be up here. We’re excited to work with Zanesville and Muskingum County area community we think that its going to be a win-win. I think the revitalization of the shopping center is going to be great and we’re excited to have good partners . The shopping centers, Wahoo Enterprises and also our banking partner, Century National Bank. So we’re excited to be here and we look forward to working with the people in the community.”

The tentative open day of the store is the week after the 4th of July. You can follow the progress on the Habitat For Humanity’s website: www.habitatseo.org
