Habitat for Humanity dedicates new home

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- Habitat for Humanity spent several months working on a new home — now the homeowner will have somewhere to spend Easter.
Crews started building the home back in September but experienced some setbacks because of the weather. The community engagement director said 120 volunteers worked on the home over four days. Now the home is ready for the new owner to move in. The director said the owner hasn’t had his own home in 15 years.
“We are dedicating our house here on Mead Street that we’ve been working on since September. Mr. Murray is his name,” said Murphie Rambo the Community Engagement Director. He’ll be getting the house tonight. He’ll be receiving his keys. So he’ll be able to move in first thing tomorrow morning.”
Rambo said applicants must meet three pieces of criteria to be eligible for a home. They have to be in need of housing, willing and able to partner with the organization, and able to pay back a zero interest mortgage. Rambo said Murray’s home is the first of several that will be in the neighborhood.
“Mid-East Career Center over on the other side of town they are building a house — the class is,” The construction and electrical and HVAC groups have gotten together and they’re building a house on their campus. And we’ll actually pick it up and move it.”
Rambo said the home Mid-East is building will go in the lot next to Murray’s home. The home should be complete sometime in April.
