Heath’s defense smothers Independence in 51-34 win

ZANESVILLE, Ohio — The Heath Bulldogs improved to 4-9 on the season after downing Independence 51-34 Sunday afternoon in the Route 40 Classic at West Muskingum.
Heath used a smothering defense to hold the Blue Devils to just three points in the first quarter, and 10 points total in the first half. Wyatt McQueen lead the Bulldogs with 6 first-half points. Treyton McCoy chipped in 4 points before the break.
After taking a 19-10 lead into the locker rooms, the Bulldogs pulled away in the second half to earn the 17-point victory.
Heath plays next on Tuesday when they are away to Johnstown-Monroe.
