I-70 Reconstruction Open House Set for Sept. 18

I 70 Reconstruction

ZANESVILLE, Ohio — An open house is scheduled for Wed., Sept. 18 in downtown Zanesville to highlight the planned reconstruction of Interstate 70 from just west of U.S. Route 40 to west of State Route 93.

“Tomorrow night, we have our public meeting for our Muskingum/70 Reconstruction Project. Public involvement is encouraged; we welcome folks to come and see and view maps that we will have related to the projects. We will have folks from ODOT there and they will be answering questions that people might have related to the upcoming project,” says Morgan Overbey, Communications Specialist for ODOT District 5.

The state highway department intends to begin the initial stages of the project, including purchasing right-of-way, in Winter 2020. They intend to wrap up the project five years later. But first, the state wants to hear from local interested parties.

“The event will be held at the Zanesville Welcome Center from 6pm to 8pm. The public can expect there to be maps and whatnot up and they will be able to view all of those. They will also be a place for them to make comments as they see fit. Any comments they might have can be answered at this event,” Overbey tells WHIZ News.

Anybody unable to attend the open house can submit comments online.
