Jeff Butler hired as West M head basketball coach

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – West Muskingum High School athletic director Aaron Bates has announced that Jeff Butler has been hired as the Tornadoes’ new head boys basketball coach.

Butler is already very familiar with the basketball program at West M. He is currently a teacher for West Muskingum Local Schools and was the Tornadoes’ head boys basketball coach from 2008-2010.

“I believe we will be competitive next year. We’ve got a good nucleus of seniors and a bunch of hungry underclassmen. I’ve been out of the game for six years and I’m looking forward to getting back,” said Butler.

Butler is a graduate of Tri-Valley where he played on their 1974 co-MVL championship team. In addition to his previous years at West M, Butler has coached at Tri-Valley and Ohio University Zanesville.

Butler replaces Josh Middleton who stepped down earlier this year.
