Jeff Tyson

Jeff Lynn Tyson, 69, of Zanesville, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on May 13, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of memories cherished by his family and friends.
Jeff was born on January 21, 1957, in Zanesville, Ohio, to the late Charles “Chuck” William Tyson and Genevieve “Jennie” E. (Pence) Tyson.
A hardworking and dedicated man, Jeff spent his early life working in the oil field before later becoming a basket maker for Longaberger. He went on to start his own business, Tyson & Son’s Mowing, which he operated for more than 25 years. After selling the business, Jeff continued working several different jobs, including at Avon and later alongside his son Kyle at MPW. Following retirement, he stayed active by working part-time at Virtues Golf Course.
Jeff was known for his strong work ethic, quick wit, and ability to make people laugh. He was always joking around, teasing family and friends, and never missed an opportunity to get a reaction out of someone. Anyone who knew Jeff also knew he carried a true Tyson temper and was never afraid to speak his mind. He could be gruff and stubborn, especially when it came to work, but beneath that tough exterior was a man with a big heart who cared deeply for his family and the people closest to him.
Some of Jeff’s happiest moments were spent enjoying weekends at the campground, relaxing around the fire, telling stories, and spending time with family and friends. Those memories, along with his laughter and personality, will never be forgotten.
He is survived by his loving wife, Cristine Sue (Shook) Tyson; his sons, Kevin (Missy) Tyson and Kyle (Keisha) Tyson; grandchildren Slade (Brook), Seth, Grace (Bryce), Aubrey, and Eli; and great-grandchildren Ryder, Ayla, and Brax. He is also survived by his brothers, Joe Tyson and Randy Tyson; sisters, Beth Tyson and Roberta “Jo” Rickeart; extended family members; and many dear friends.
In addition to his parents, Jeff was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles E. Tyson and Jim Tyson; and sisters, Ellie Mumaw, Sue Mudgett, and Candy Thompson.
Service arrangements are being planned as the family awaits the return of his grandson, Slade, who is currently serving overseas with the United States Air Force.
Jeff will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his love of laughter, his weekends at the campground, and the unforgettable personality that made him uniquely himself. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
The Bryan & Hardwick Funeral Home, 2318 Maple Ave. Zanesville is in charge of the arrangements. To share memories and condolences with Jeff’s family please visit www.BryanHardwickFH.com.
