John and Annie Glenn Museum Foundation opens for the holidays

NEW CONCORD, Ohio- Flags are at half staff. Hearts are heavy. As the Village of New Concord mourns the loss of a true American hero.
The John and Annie Glenn Museum Foundation already had plans to open for the holidays. And now with John’s untimely death they’ve seen an increase in traffic at this historic site.
“I know they’re famous worldwide but I guess to us here in new concord he’s just a normal person,” Site director
Debbie Allender said. “I’ve enjoyed knowing them for 15 years and enjoyed visiting with he and Annie. They’re great people.”
Allender describes Glenn as a very kind very generous person. The museum which is actually John’s childhood home just recently joined the Ohio History Connection.
“He was happy to see that happen, because he knows it’s a struggle for us keep this museum open. With the Ohio History Connect involved it will help make sure that that happens for many years,” Allender said.
“We bring a lot of school kids in here. We always make sure they understand John Glenn was from here just like you are. He’s achieved greatness and they can too,” Allender mentioned.
Sunday West Minster Presbyterian Church in New Concord will host a candle vigil honoring John Glenn at 7 p.m.
