John Glenn’s Zumbro races her way to Ball State

NEW CONCORD, Ohio – John Glenn’s Karlie Zumbro knew that she wanted to compete in track and field at the college level ever since she took up the sport in the seventh grade. Now those dreams are coming true.
The highly decorated runner signed Wednesday afternoon to compete at the Division I level. She’ll be attending Ball State University, in Muncie, Indiana, on a full ride scholarship.
She narrowed her choices to Kent State and Ball State and said that being a Cardinal seemed like a perfect fit for her.
“It just felt like home. I loved the coach. I loved the girls there and I’m really excited about it,” said Zumbro.
The Little Muskies senior has medaled in numerous events at the OHSAA state track and field championships during her time at John Glenn. She said at Ball State the events that she’ll focus on will be the heptathlon and the 400 meter hurdles.
She signed her letter Wednesday in front of dozens of family members and classmates.
“The support is incredible. I never imagined this many people to come and support me. It’s a great feeling to have family and friends come support me. I’m very thankful for it,” said Zumbro.
