John McIntire Library to Hold VR Headset Program

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Visitors of the John McIntire Library in
Zanesville now have the opportunity to experience virtual reality
technology. The Emerging Technologies Department recently acquired a
virtual reality headset; which Jeremy Norris, with the library, says
allows the user to choose any experience or reality that they desire.
“You can have ones
that range in price from—you know, less than 50 dollars to over
almost 1,000 dollars. This one is a stand-alone headset; so you can
sit there and you can be able to go anywhere in the world, experience
anything that you would like to from skydiving to bungee
jumping—roller coasters. You know, you can do Google Street View
and you can go to any country in the world. So, it’s an amazing
experience to have the public come in and let them check it out.”
The new VR headset
will be available to the public at the John McIntire Library during a
program to be held tomorrow night from 4 to 5.
“We actually have
a new VR headset that’s made by Lenovo– it’s called a Lenovo
Daydream. And, we’re going to be having a program on Tuesday the
26th and it’ll be a passive program in the lobby where
teens, tweens, and adults are welcome to come in and try out the VR
headset and get some kind of experience.”
The Emerging
Technologies Department is also hosting a 3D Printing Basics program
on December 4th from 5 to 6 PM at the library.
