ZANESVILLE, Ohio- The John McIntire Library is offering a neat program for kindergarten aged children and their parents.

On Thursday, the library will hold a “pre” kindergarten event. Assistant Director Blair Tom described it as it’s a night before kindergarten. This event is to help children get accumulated to being in a school like setting.

“Children entering kindergarten this year are invited to John McIntire Library at 6:30 for a program that will give them an introduction to the kinds of things that can expect when they begin their school career in kindergarten,” Tom said.

Tom said this event will be a snap shot of what the first day of school will be like.

“We’ll share stories. We’ll have activities that they will have similar experiences once they begin school. They’ll do a craft. They’ll sing songs. They’ll meet and be around children that they are unfamiliar with prior to the program and learn to follow instructions in a setting similar to a classroom,” Tom said.

For more information, contact the Children’s Department at John McIntire Library at (740) 453-0391 ext. 115. The program is free of charge and open to the public.
