Joint Unified Command Responds to Johnson and Johnson Vaccine Development

MUSKINGUM COUNTY, Ohio-Recently the federal department of health has reported six women experienced blood clots after receiving the single dose Johnson and Johnson vaccine.

The six women who experienced the clots were between the ages of 18 and 48 and clots occurred 6 to 13 days after the shot was administered. Muskingum County Health Director Jack Butterfield explained that there are several medical factors that can lead to clotting.

“We know that there are certain medical conditions that predispose someone to an increased risk of clotting. Those conditions would be cancers, blood disorders, leukemias, things like that. Or people with a history of blood clotting. Any condition that increases your risk of blood clotting, including pregnancy.”, Butterfield told reporters.

More tests are being done to see if there is a correlation between the clotting and the vaccine. The Johnson and Johnson vaccine has been administered to approximately 6.8 million Americans. Reactions are exceedingly rare and are accompanied by distinct symptoms.

“The predominant symptom is a terrible headache. Any other neurological deficit, whether it’s decreased consciousness, seizures, confusion, those sorts of things… those sorts of things related to clotting in general should alert anyone to, whether they’ve received Johnson and Johnson or not, to alert their primary care provider.”, Butterfield said of the symptoms.

Johnson and Johnson has put a pause on administration of their vaccine. Both the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines have been completely void of this side effect.
